Healing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it.

An invisible illness is an umbrella term for any medical condition that isn’t easily visible to others. This includes chronic physical conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, fibromyalgia, and others — but also mental illnesses.

Many invisible illnesses are chronic illnesses, meaning that they are long term health conditions and do not have a known cure.

​

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way your brain and spinal cord process painful and nonpainful signals.   Read More

Ankylosing Spondylitis

Ankylosing spondylitis, or axial spondylarthritis, is a type of inflammatory disease that can cause the vertebrae, the bones in the spine, to fuse over time. As a result, the spine becomes less flexible and it can cause a stooped posture. If the ribs are affected, it can also make breathing difficult.  Read More

Hashimoto's Thyroiditis

Hashimoto's thyroiditis is an autoimmune disorder. Normally, your autoimmune system protects your body by attacking bacteria and viruses. But with this disease, your immune system attacks your thyroid gland by mistake. Your thyroid then can't make enough thyroid hormone, so your body can't work as well.  Read More
