Teacher & Student

We are seeking a patient tutor who knows the subject or subjects they will be tutoring.

 

To be a successful tutor, one must be punctual, friendly, and approachable. A good tutor will create a comfortable environment for students to share their challenges and will find new ways to help them overcome these challenges.

POLICE CLEARANCE & WORKING WITH CHILDREN'S CHECK ESSENTIAL

Tutor Responsibilities:

  • Remaining up to date with the school curriculum and subject-specific content.

  • Being punctual to all appointments.

  • Traveling to students' homes to provide lessons.

  • Ensuring that if any changes need to be made to meeting times, it is done in a reasonable time frame.

  • Maintaining communication with parents to update them on the student's progress.

  • Researching learning resources to use during lessons.

 

Tutor Requirements:

  • A high school qualification or equivalent.

  • Experience working as a tutor would be advantageous.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • A driver's license with access to a vehicle.

  • Be punctual and professional.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the subject area(s) you will be tutoring

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Patience and empathy for individuals with learning challenges

  • Ability to work independently and motivate client

Time Commitment:

  • This is a volunteer position, with flexible scheduling. You will need to be available for a 1 hour session each week.
