Detailed Description

As the person responsible for this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with a supportive, friendly, and collaborative team. Your main responsibilities will include designing, planning, and organizing various functions, fundraising events, and programs. Additionally, you will be required to liaise directly with Executive Committee Members and work closely with the Finance Officer to find and apply for grants or sponsors for events.

You will also need to collaborate with our Social Media and Marketing person to ensure that all events are being advertised and create events on Humanitix and Website. It is essential to keep the costs down as much as possible, so you will be required to try and source donations or free room hire.

As part of your role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the annual Fundraising Strategy and Action Plan, as well as providing written reports on all events and fundraising activities from the previous month for Committee meetings. You will receive support and guidance from the committee, who will aid in the lead-up to the event.

Your role will also involve promoting an inclusive educational environment that provides additional support for our members and techniques to live with an invisible illness. You will need to consult with professionals and other outside agencies to invite speakers to our Casual Cuppas and create and compile databases containing all information for each event.

You will need to coordinate the setup and pull down of the event on the day and organize a full-day event every 3 months of speakers (generally we have 6 speakers for the day). You will need to source a venue as well.

The workshop program aims to combat social isolation and loneliness by connecting our members with skilled individuals who enjoy sharing their talents.

As an Events & Fundraising Manager, you will be responsible for organizing day events, information sessions, bingo nights, quiz nights, and other events throughout the year, including our Gala & Awards Night. By doing so, you will contribute to the fantastic atmosphere and reputation we have built.

To ensure the success of each event, you will work closely with the committee, Public Relations Officer, and Social Media Manager. Your role as Events Manager involves overseeing every aspect of an event, from researching and choosing venues to evaluating its success afterwards.

Additionally, you will need to create each event on our Facebook Page and Facebook Group and share it throughout Facebook Community groups. It's essential to ensure that the Web Manager and Newsletter Editor have the dates well in advance of each event.

Are you someone who loves to help and uplift others? Do you have a positive and happy personality? If so, you may be the perfect candidate for this position.

The ideal candidate should possess clear and professional communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Creativity and initiative are essential, as is proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel.

While not required, experience in organizing events, from small talks to annual conferences, would be a plus. Additionally, the candidate should be capable of managing social media and databases, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and response times efficiently, greeting guests confidently, and taking a hands-on approach to functions and events.

Strong problem-solving skills are necessary, as the candidate must be able to take ownership of finding solutions and enjoy challenges. The ability to learn new tasks quickly, adapt to change, and show initiative will also be highly valued.
